Mumbai to host first summit dedicated to Createch in India

12:38 2018

On 6 February 2018, the UK’s Department for International Trade (DIT) will hold the India – UK Createch Summit in Mumbai. This first-of-its-kind conference will celebrate and explore the convergence of creativity and technology – Createch – and the innovations produced by its application across a range of sectors. The day will also see the finale of the TECH Rocketship Awards 2017-2018, celebrating some of India’s best and brightest talent in technology scale-up companies. Baroness Fairhead, Minister of State at DIT will launch the conference in the morning and HRH The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, KG, GCVO will attend as a special guest. The conference will be followed by an evening reception marking the launch of the new VisitBritain marketing campaign in India titled ‘Find Your GREAT Britain’.

The day will consist of exclusive keynotes, panel sessions and workshops, bringing together thought-leaders from business and government to discuss the role technology and creativity can play in shaping the future of multiple industries; and how the UK and India are collaborating to develop technologies and innovations with global impact.

The Summit will be the centrepiece of a month-long series of events promoting trade and partnership between the UK and India during January and February 2018. Each event will focus on how technology-driven innovation is enabling creative output and delivering new products and services. Createch month will connect over 100 visiting British companies from the film, music, healthcare, immersive technology, industrial design and sport sectors with Indian companies, investors, and central and state-level government officials who are interested in partnering with leading innovators in design and technology.

Crispin Simon, British Deputy High Commissioner for Western India and the Director General of Department for International Trade, India and South Asia said:

“We are extremely excited to host the Department for International Trade’s first conference in India dedicated to the creative application of some of the world’s most advanced technologies.”

“Increasingly, businesses must collaborate with each other in order to compete successfully in markets. That is getting disrupted by the advance of these pioneering new techniques. We hope that in convening Indian and UK businesses at the forefront of their sectors, we will create a unique opportunity for these leaders to partner and do business with like-minded firms with an appetite for innovation.”

Trade missions from a diverse group of sectors will travel the breadth of the country during Createch month showcasing UK innovation and technology. Indian businesses keen to partner and hear from world-leading design and technology experts will also be able to meet them at The Football Movement Conference in Mumbai on 22-23 February and Auto Expo Component 2018 in Delhi on 8-11 February.
