President Mukherjee meets Aung San Suu Kyi

New Delhi, Oct 18  Myanmar State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi on Tuesday called on President Pranab Mukherjee at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here.

Suu Kyi, the Myanmar Foreign Minister, also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan where she was accorded a ceremonial reception earlier.

“State Counsellor of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi calls on the President Pranab Mukherjee, at Rashtrapati Bhavan,” the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting tweeted.

Suu Kyi, who is on three-day visit here post the Brics-Bimstec Summit in Goa, also met with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

“Boosting ties with Myanmar. Ceremonial welcome for State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi is followed by a meeting with Sushma Swaraj,” spokesperson of the External Affairs Ministry, Vikas Swarup tweeted.

She also visited Rajghat to pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.
