Toronto, Dec 18 The Pearson International Airport here has become the second busiest airport in North America, receiving a record 40 million passengers in a year, officials said.
The figure is likely to touch the 41-million mark by the end of 2015.
Only New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport handles more passenger traffic than Toronto.
Passenger traffic has been growing at the rate of 7 percent at Toronto International Airport which is served by more than 40,000 employees.
By generating revenue of about $35.4 billion, the Toronto airport contributes about 5.6 percent of the total GDP of Ontario.
