Nitin Gadkari calls on the Egyptian Transport Minister Eng. Hany Dahy

New Delhi, Aug 06: India’s Minister of Shipping, Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari called on his Egyptian counterpart Eng. Hany Dahy in Cairo, Egypt yesterday and congratulated him on the completion of New Suez Canal project in a record time of 11 months.

Gadkari is in Egypt to represent India at the inaugural ceremony of New Suez Canal on behalf of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Egyptian Minister expressed keen interest in India’s ambitious plans for infrastructure development. Both leaders exchanged ideas on innovative financing for PPP projects and use of new technology in areas of green transport, and river transport & ports.

The Egyptian river transport authority organised a Nile river cruise for Gadkari and made a presentation on the river transport in Nile. The two ministers also agreed to enhance cooperation between India and Egypt in the area of Inland waterways and port development. A MoU is scheduled to be signed in this regard.
