Ambassador Verma’s Farewell Meeting with Prime Minister Modi

It was a pleasure to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi today on the last day of my tenure as U.S. Ambassador to India. We spoke about a range of issues, and the substantial progress we have made in the U.S.-India relationship over the past two years.

We discussed bilateral accomplishments in the area of clean energy, trade, defense, and people-to-people ties, as well as the broader benefits that our efforts have brought to the world. We reflected on the Prime Minister’s address to a joint session of Congress, President Obama’s visit to India as Chief Guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations, and agreed that the U.S.-India relationship is stronger than ever. I thanked the Prime Minister for his leadership and vision and said a personal farewell.
