Guyana president arrives Wednesday on six-day visit

New Delhi, Jan 6 Guyana President Donald Rabindranauth Ramotar, who will be the chief guest at the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, will pay a six-day official visit to India Jan 7-12.

The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, the world’s largest annual gathering of people of Indian origin, is being held in Gandhinagar in Gujarat Jan 8-9.

Relations between India and Guyana are embedded in historical, cultural and traditional links. The presence of a large Indian diaspora in Guyana adds to the close relationship between the two countries.

The visiting president will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and other senior leaders.

The visit will contribute to further strengthening of the close bilateral relations between India and Guyana, a country on the Caribbean coast of South America.
