Festival of Sand Sculptures in Issyk-Kul on the eve of the World Nomad Games 2016

Issy-Kul Lake, Kyrgyzstan Sep 06 A festival of sand sculptures called “Magical Sand” has attracted large visitors since its opening.

The festival took place in  Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul as part of the World Nomad Games 2016.

At the festival, 14 sculptors from Kyrgyzstan, 6 from Kazakhstan and 1 from Uzbekistan, plus others who have the skills necessary for sand sculpting, have shown their work on the themes of “World Nomad Games”, “25 years of Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic” and “Year of History and Culture of Kyrgyzstan”.

As reported by organizers, as part of the festival there is a children’s area, where young visitors can independently build sculptures and castles from sand.

The festival will be accompanied by an ethno-concert with performances from famous stars, talented groups and folklore ensembles.

The festival remind of the sculptors organised on the coastline of Puri in the State of Odisha in India.
