Swiss Embassy in New Delhi : Celebrating the Queer in Art and Real life.

New Delhi, Oct 14 The Lush green lawns and cosy envirns of the Embassy of Switzerland in India and Bhutan at Chanakyapuri acquired a festive look on Friday evening. The occasion was All evening Art Bazaar curated and presented by Flying chameleon and The particle collective having the theme – The queer in art and real life.it was an evening of talks. food and shopping at Art Bazar. So it was dotted by a diverse set of audience, panelists , artists and small businesses .

The eminent panels boasted of Daniel Garbade, a Swiss visual artist of queer art collective, Dr Alka Pande, an eminent art historian, writer, curator, editor, Sourabh kirpal, the queer crusader, Tashi choden, supermodel worldwide Bhutan, Vivek Raj Anand of Hamsafar trust and Raman Kumar Singh a pioneer and a leader in diverse and inclusive HR practices.

The panel discussion was inaugurated and opened by His Excellency Dr. Ralf Hechner Ambassador of Switzerland in India and Bhutan. They all came together to celebrate and champion the expanding boundaries of sexuality and its slow acceptance world over. The whole idea seems nearer to India’s ancient divine wisdom of Ardhanaarishwar.

On the sidelines of this Art Bazar was an array of beautifully done stalls by young artists and small businesses. It ranged from displaying the products in the categories of fashion, lifestyle, visual art, culinary arts, sustainability. there were long list of names such as transmutation soap studio, Nostradamus, achal, dharang khaas, eclaypse, awesomeness and so on. One such small business in culinary section was Shivangis cinnamon kitchen which boasted of sweets and baked goods from her sustainable menu.

Trained at Oberoi in corporate hospitality and a graduate specialising in India cuisine and Bakery young Shivangi displayed her products rooted in philosophy of French baking – light , elegant, butterly wholesome goodness to serve both health conscious foodies and indulgent ones. Her stall was cynosure of all eyes and her mouth licking range of sugar free date wallnut cakes, mocha brawnie bytes, blueberry cake bars, orange chocolate cake – selling like proverbial hotcakes.

It was her first such exposure and she managed it with her sister Sharmistha and friend Vivek with Elan. Appreciation rained and demands soared. And soon stall became empty. Other stalls displaying various categories did attract good customer and appreciation. credit goes to embassy for organizing and supporting an event of substance celebrating the queer.
