Parliamentary Elections in Uzbekistan Complete

Tashkent Dec 21, 2014 All polling stations on election of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis and the representative bodies of state authority in places completed voting.

It was stated by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan M.Abdusalomov at the briefing for local and foreign media at 10 pm Tashkent time at the Republican press center of the election coverage.

According to preliminary data, 18 million voters participated at the elections that made 88 percent of the total number of voters included in the lists. Thus, in accordance with the article 44 of the Law on elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of the Parliament considered as valid.

The Conference of the Environmental Movement of Uzbekistan, which held a secret ballot for the election of 15 members to the Legislative Chamber of the Parliament of the Environmental Movement was also concluded. At present, count of votes and determination of the election results going on.

The elections to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan was held in compliance with all democratic norms and principles enshrined in the Constitution and the electoral law.

During the election, the Central Election Commission did not receive any information on violations of the electoral law.

Currently, the polling stations in accordance with the article 42 of the Law on elections to the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan conduct count of the votes separately for each candidate for deputy of the lower house of parliament.

As reported afore, the elections observed by more than 300 international and foreign observers from more than 50 countries and five international organizations.
Besides, 70 thousand observers and authorized representatives of political parties watch over election process to the Legislative Chamber.

Representatives of domestic and foreign media have been informed that a press conference, which will announce the preliminary results of elections of deputies to the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan will take place on 22 December at 3 pm.
